GEELONG DEFEATS BARWON HEADS 2-0

Once again Geelong had to “fight” hard to come away with the points. Fronting up with only 9 players was not going to be an easy task against a full strength opposition. But this did not deter our endeavour to win. With our continuous attacking play we were eventually able to penetrate their solid defense. A long ball from Jov to Emily, who then sent Milly on her way to place the perfect ball for Sumeyra who lobbed it over the keeper.

U16 Girls - RUBY SHINES AS SURF COAST DINE.

Monday, 05 July 2010 09:40

GEELONG 1-4 SURF COAST

Even though Geelong lost the game, Surf Coast were made to earn their points. The ever reliable RUBY prevented Surf Coast on numerous occasions from creating scoring opportunities. Regardless of the fact that she beat her own keeper to “score” a goal, RUBY continued to put in her best for the team. A superb set shot by Milly that resulted in a goal was a just reward for the hard earned free that Emily had earned. A hard “headed “Cody once again showed that nothing can stop her from giving 100%. Without RUBY`S commitment and desire the final result could have been far worse.

Reserves Report: Essendon 2-3 Geelong

Tuesday, 29 June 2010 11:26

One change to the starting line up was made this week by coach Steve  Gaitanis.  Captain Alex Stefanovic was unavailable and his place in  the heart ofthe defence went to Nick Ilievski.

Jimmy Vo came into the squad as a substitute.  Everything else was as  you were from the previous week.  Geelong started brightly and showed  more desire in the tackle and crispness in the passing and movement.

VSF Men: Essendon Utd 2-7 Geelong SC

Tuesday, 29 June 2010 00:03

Geelong rebounded from last weeks loss by crushing Essendon Utd 7-2.

Within five minutes Essendon took the lead from a goal mouth scramble but Geelong quickly replied through Chris Psimaris who smashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area. It was Geelong who took the lead when they caught Essendon on the counter, Mathais Gorosito put it in the net after he was found by a James Aguis pass. With just minutes before the break Essendon caught Geelong on the counter to level things up.

U17 Boys share points with Lara

Tuesday, 22 June 2010 16:51

Still on top of the U/17’s ladder only by goal difference, Geelong and Lara remain undefeated after battling out a tough 1-1 draw. Right from the kick off Lara’s size and pace swamped Geelong.  Much to the dismay of the Stead Park faithful, Lara’s forward, with a solo run from just inside their half beat two tackles to finish strongly past keeper Rhett Joy inside 10 minutes.  The Geelong team battled fruitlessly in spite of an unprecedented amount of stoppages with Lara’s coach making more than 20 interchanges to half time.

With Geelong’s coach Rob Hodkinson away on holiday, it was up to his assistant Dean and man of the match Billy Fanraatree to rev up a flat looking Geelong side.  The second half began with Geelong controlling the possession and was after 7 minutes and a couple more Lara changes that captain Dylan Stojanovski’s call to put stalwart Jordan Rendevski up front paid off. With a powerful volley from just inside the box, Jordan and the boys celebrated the equalizer .  Now in top gear, both sides squandered several opportunities to break the deadlock with both Alberto Lopez and Jimmy Vo shooting wide, and Lara’s ever fresh legs no match for the resilience of Michael Ilioski, Danny Gray and Michael Dojcinovski.  Lara finished the Stead Park match with no fewer than 47 interchanges. Next week’s see the half way mark of the season with our boys away to Surf Coast at Quay reserve.
