Open Women tie @ Deakin 5-5

From the onset it was obvious that the smaller Deakin ground did not suit the free flowing style of play that Geelong is attuned to. Questionable ground conditions and dubious refereeing decisions marred a high scoring and entertaining game. Two dubious goals by Deakin in the final minutes of the game robbed our girls of a deserving win, instead they had to settle for a bitter 5 all result. Even though Geelong fought hard  with Nicole scoring twice and Milly, Emily and Angela also contributing, we were unable to take the three points away from this Deakin team that enjoyed a huge home ground advantage.
