Sunday Mens Team wins 2-1

On Sunday afternoon @ Stead Park, our Mens team defeated Bell Park 2-1.

Bell Park put in sprited, tough effort which our boys were able to absorb and overcome with their skillful play. This match was probably our best overall team effort with everyone contributing to the win.

Bell Park began the game on the offensive creating two early chances but thankfully their finishing was off-the-mark. Slowly thereafter our team began to take a hold on the game. Shane, Shiva and Lube took control of the center midfield and began creating service for our forwards. Kris was most lively in attack, menacing the Bell Park goal. Just before the half Kris was rewarded for his efforts scoring with a cool toe-poke past the advancing Bell Park keeper. Uki created Kris's goal providing a through ball after a mazy run all the way from left back.

The second half began with us winning a corner kick. The resulting goalmouth scramble resulted in us being awarded a penalty kick. The Park keeper barreled through Branne as he was about to turn and shoot. Shane scored from the resulting spotkick, placing his shot deep into the left-hand side of goal, the keeper left watching in admiration.

Bell Park responded with goal of their own. It was a freaky goal, a Bell Park forward struck a volley directly into goal from the top-back of the penalty box. He got onto the end of a deep cross from the right. He'll never score a goal like that again!

For the reminder on the match our team withstood tremendous pressure from Park's attack. Our defensive line of Uki, Koore (prefered spelling), Sam and Tomche proved impenetrable holding out Park's attacks and earning the 2-1 victory.

Dylan had a golden chance to score late in the match, he rounded Park's keeper but he chose to take an extra tough to get on to his prefered left shooting foot, the extra tough resulted in his effort getting blocked. Still his miss doesn't even compare to Georgi's miss last weekend at Surfside. From 5 meters out, right in front of goal, everyone beaten and the keeper anchored to his goal-line Georgi somehow managed to drag his shot far enough to miss the goal completely. Much harder to miss than score from that position!

Next match is against Corio at Hume Reserve.
