FFV Men: Geelong SC 3-1 Yarraville

Geelong propelled itself back into second place and promotion contention after a second half demolition of Yarraville.

The first half prooved to be a tight affair with neither side able to assert itself in front of goals, but not from lack of chances. The most noteable effort coming from Scott Davison, who skimmed the cross bar from a set piece just outside of the area.

On a saddening note, 20 minutes in, Chris Balaburova, who had just returned from a year out after a serious knee injury, re-injured his troublesome knee.

With this serving as a motivational force for the other players, Coach Lu Temelkovski rallied his troops and was rewarded shortly after the break through Mathais Gorosito. Oktay Yilmaz beat his opponent on the edge of the area then turned the ball out to his left to Shane Zordan who cut the ball back across goal where Gorosito was lurking. Gorosito turned his man and put the ball past the keeper.

Next to stand up was young Chris Psimaris. Returning to the starting 11 after missing out on a spot in last weeks loss to Wesgate, Psimaris worked his way to the edge of the area and smashed a stunning effort into the right corner.

Geelongs 3rd saw "the Scott and Troy show" kick into gear, with Davison teeing up a Troy Hardy header on the edge of the 6 yard box. Troys' 10th goal of the campaign.

With just a few miutes to go, Yarraville scored a consolation goal.
