FFV Men: Melbourne Uni 0-1 Geelong SC

Geelong SC sit in second place with a game in hand after defeating Melbourne Uni 1-0.

After a rollercoaster week which saw Lu Temelkovski resign as coach and a 2-1 defeat to Maribrynong Greens, who are currently engaged in a relegation battle, Geelong had to step up or risk losing a shot at promotion.

Now with Robbie Noggler at the helm it took a volley from striker Troy Hardy to break the deadlock. After winning a corner, Oktay Yilmaz's corner was punched by Melbourne Uni's keeper, but he failed to get the purchase on it required to get clearance past Hardy who slammed it back through the pack of defenders and into the net.

Geelong had numerous chance with Yilmaz, Mathaius Gorosito and Jasko Ikanovic all coming close to killing off the game in the 1st half.

Despite Melbournes efforts in the second half they could not break down the Geelong defence with Daniel Ho making a number of critical tackles.

Geelong plays a catch up match on Wednesday night against Latrobe University at the Keilor Park Synthetic sports field.
